Each year, the Carnival increases in popularity, affirming its place in the hearts of Carnival-goers from near and far.

The Largest Winter Carnival in the World

For 57 years, the Québec Winter Carnival has organised the largest and most popular winter celebration in the world. Visitors spend more than $42.5 million dollars per winter in Québec City, while the Carnival itself generates direct economic, social and tourism-related spin-offs for the Québec City area.

Emphasis on Winter

The Carnival has been a great success. To celebrate the sparkle and magic of the new millennium, the Québec Winter Carnival is adamant about continuing to emphasize winter activities for families and for the singles crowd. The Carnival achieves a perfect balance between tradition and modernity, history, culture, national heritage and fun. Bonhomme will present the varied 17-day program. The Carnival's activities reach a vast clientele and the participation rate always surpasses the fixed objective. Close to a million participants flock to Carnival sites during the unique event. This number does not even include the thousands of tourists who come to visit the warmth and enchantment of Québec City for other reasons...

The Carnival is unique because of its location. Its reputation has spread beyond our borders due to the increasing international recognition of the North. Our strategic promotion assures world-wide exposure for our capital city and for the event.
